紅寶石
是剛玉的一種，主要成分是氧化鋁（Al2O3），紅色來自鉻（Cr）。
自然沒有鉻的寶石是藍色的藍寶石。
天然紅寶石大多來自亞洲（緬甸、泰國和斯里蘭卡）、非洲和澳大利亞，美國蒙大拿州和南卡羅萊那州也有部分生產。
天然紅寶石非常少見且珍貴，但是人造並非太難，所以工業用紅寶石都是人造的。
